The yearbook provides regional and country-level economic, demographic and social statistics for ESCAP members and associate members, generally covering data available through the end of 1984. It combines regional indicators with detailed national tables on population, labour, national accounts, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, industry, energy, consumption, transport, communications, trade, wages, prices, finance, education, health and housing. Data were supplied primarily by national statistical offices and supplemented by the United Nations Statistical Office, specialized agencies and other international organizations. Explanatory notes describe concepts, classifications, symbols, geographic groupings and methodological limitations to improve interpretation and international comparability. Annexes provide statistics for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, principal data sources and conversion coefficients
