This publication is an annotated bibliography designed to facilitate access to written materials on Islam and family planning. It lists 161 books, journal articles, conference papers and ephemeral publications located in the collections of more than 20 national, regional and international organizations. Each entry provides bibliographic information, subject and geographic descriptors, an abstract when available, and codes identifying institutions from which the material may be obtained. The bibliography covers religious interpretations of contraception, abortion and sterilization as well as fertility, marriage, women’s status, population policy and family-planning programmes in Muslim-majority countries and regions. By bringing together a subject index, geographic index and directory of 35 holding institutions, the profile serves as a specialized reference and document-location tool for researchers and family-planning professionals
