The briefing is organized in the lead-up to the Asia-Pacific Fifth Review and Appraisal of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA), tentatively scheduled for June 2027. Guided by General Assembly resolution 79/147 and ECOSOC resolution 2025/8, ESCAP is soliciting non-governmental stakeholder feedback on the implementation of MIPAA, in Asia and the Pacific. 

ESCAP will deliver an overview of the Asia-Pacific Review and Appraisal process, including planned consultations with stakeholders. Information will also be provided on the call for formation of a stakeholder advisory group that will coordinate and consolidate feedback from across the region.
