Oxfam in Laos, with co-funding support from Oxfam Hong Kong and ESCAP, convened the Women-led Agribusiness Training and Pitching Event on 28–29 August 2025 in Vientiane Capital. The programme built on earlier training and outreach activities to strengthen women’s economic leadership in agribusiness and promote climate-resilient practices. From an initial pool of 26 applications, 13 women entrepreneurs from seven provinces were selected to participate in advanced training on business planning, financial literacy, and climate-smart agriculture. The event culminated in a pitching session before an independent panel of judges drawn from government ministries, trade unions, and development partners.

All 13 participants received grants totalling USD 49,000 in seed funding across five award tiers. Beyond financial support, the entrepreneurs will benefit from long-term mentoring, field assessments, and financial training to strengthen their enterprises. This initiative directly advances women’s economic leadership in agribusiness while promoting gender equality, sustainable livelihoods, and climate-resilient agricultural practices in Lao PDR.
