Eye on ESCAP 2001 v.1: A media file on coverage of economic, environment and social issues

Eye on ESCAP, Volume 1 is a media compilation produced by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) through the United Nations Information Services (UNIS) in Bangkok. Covering the period from October 2000 to September 2001, the publication documents press and media coverage of ESCAP’s economic, environmental, and social initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region. It includes excerpts from international, regional, and national news sources highlighting topics such as economic development, trade and investment, sustainable development, foreign direct investment, poverty reduction, and regional cooperation. The report reflects ESCAP’s outreach activities and engagement with media partners, providing insights into public discourse on issues ranging from financial sector reforms and infrastructure development to technology transfer and environmental sustainability. By consolidating coverage from multiple subregions—including South, South-East, East and North-East, North and Central Asia, and the Pacific—it offers a snapshot of how ESCAP’s work and the broader UN development agenda were presented to diverse audiences during the reporting year.
