The Regional Forum brought together representatives from relevant ministries of the Asia-Pacific countries, particularly those responsible for SME development, national banks and National Women’s Machineries. It also included women entrepreneurs/ representatives from women entrepreneurs’ associations, relevant UN agencies, the private sector, and academic institutions working towards advancing women's entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.

The specific objectives of the forum were to:

1)   Provide an overview of Catalyzing Women’s Entrepreneurship (CWE) Programme and share good practices and lessons learnt from on-the ground implementation in seven countries in the Asia and Pacific region;

2)   Hold consultations around women entrepreneurship and the policy and governance environment, ICT and business skills development, and innovative financing with partners beyond the CWE countries; and

3)   Take stock of the existing needs and recommendations for the way forward to enhance women’s economic empowerment and entrepreneurship in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Meeting took place at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand on 9 May 2024. The meeting was organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in partnership with the Government of Canada, under the framework of the Catalyzing Women’s Entrepreneurship programme.
