This publication presents the conclusions, recommendations and selected statements of the 1976 UNDP/ESCAP Regional Meeting on Technical Co-operation among Developing Countries. The meeting treated technical cooperation as an instrument for individual and collective self-reliance through the reciprocal sharing of knowledge, expertise, training facilities, equipment and institutional capacities. Its recommendations address national and regional coordination mechanisms, financing arrangements, information systems, capacity building, appropriate technology and cooperation on shared development problems. Particular attention is given to least developed countries, poverty eradication, food security, energy, human resources, women and youth, and the roles of UNDP, ESCAP, developed countries and international organizations. The volume also records national experiences and positions from participating countries and contributions from United Nations bodies, specialized agencies and regional institutes.
