The WINGs (WE Inspire Next Gens) Bootcamp is organized by the Kenan Foundation Asia with the support of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), under the project "Promoting Gender Equality and Women's Economic Empowerment by Valuing and Investing in the Care Economy for a Sustainable and Resilient Future."
Building on three online learning sessions held in October 2026, the Bootcamp is the central activity of the WINGs initiative, which pairs youth with women-led community enterprises in Chiang Khong and Wiang Kaen districts of Chiang Rai to co-create practical digital and green solutions in ageing rural communities. It brings together 50 youth participants aged 15–20 and representatives of seven women-led community enterprises - representing approximately 117 women members - alongside trainers, mentors and facilitators.
The initiative reflects ESCAP's regional work on women's entrepreneurship and the care economy, recognizing that many women running community enterprises also carry significant care responsibilities for their families and communities, and that solutions which save time and increase income can support both their enterprises and their wider roles.
Structured over three days, the Bootcamp features roundtables between youth teams and enterprise members, design-thinking exercises, solution clinics on green, digital and AI approaches, and team pitches to an expert panel. The Bootcamp serves as a platform to:
- Build a shared understanding between youth and enterprise members of each enterprise's operations, challenges and care context, documented through Enterprise Care Profiles;
- Co-create and validate practical digital and green solutions responding to enterprise priorities, with attention to members' time, workload and care responsibilities;
- Develop three-month pilot implementation plans, to be supported by seed grants and mentoring from November 2026 to January 2027;
- Strengthen intergenerational collaboration and youth engagement in community enterprise development.
The outcomes of the Bootcamp will feed into pilot implementation and a community showcase planned for early 2027, documenting lessons for the continuation and scale-up of intergenerational approaches to women's economic empowerment.
