The workshop was organized following a joint technical assistance mission by ESCAP and the Pacific Community Statistics for Development Division (SPC-SDD) to support the Tonga Statistics Department (TSD) in strengthening the monitoring framework for the Tonga Strategic Development Framework (TSDF) 2035 and enhancing statistical inputs for Tonga’s 2026 Voluntary National Review (VNR). The mission focused on reviewing and refining the TSDF 2035 indicators and accompanying metadata, producing key statistical outputs for the VNR, and consulting with the National Planning Department (NPD) and other stakeholders to ensure that the indicator framework and reporting outputs aligned with national planning and sustainable development reporting requirements.
