The Second Asia-Pacific Regional Review of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) featured a series of side events organized by various stakeholders, including Governments, UN agencies, civil society and other organizations. These side events offered a unique platform to engage in in-depth discussions on migration and development issues across Asia and the Pacific, aligning with the GCM’s objectives and the broader framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Through these events, participants discussed the progress, challenges and emerging issues in implementing the GCM, with an emphasis on enhancing regional cooperation and sharing good practices.
Each side event was independently organized by the hosting organizations. For specific inquiries regarding any side event, please contact the respective organizers directly. Contact information for side event organizers were provided in the concept notes available under the “Programme” tab.
Room allocation in United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC)
Side event organizers were assigned rooms within the UNCC, each with a set duration of 75 minutes. Rooms were available to organizers 15 minutes before the scheduled start of each event. Side event organizers were encouraged to hold side events on-site with the possibility of hybrid participation if required for special circumstances, taking place on the following dates and times:
4 and 5 February 2025, from 12:30 to 13:45 (Bangkok time)
6 February 2025, from 11:00 to 12:15 and 12:30 to 13:45 (Bangkok time)
Registration
For those who only attend side events (not the intergovernmental meeting nor the stakeholder forum), and in order to access UNCC, all organizers and participants who wish to attend side events in person must complete the registration by 17 January 2025 via the Indico system https://indico.un.org/event/1013254/. This includes completing the second designated registration for “Side events only” form to confirm participation.
Please note that registration for side events did not grant entry to the Regional Review meeting, as attendance at the intergovernmental meeting was by invitation only.
Upon arrival at UNCC, participants must go to the registration counter on the ground floor of the UNCC to pick up their badges. The registration counter was open from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM (Bangkok time) and from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (Bangkok time) from 4 to 6 February 2025.
