The LIFT 4 Laos Mining Governance Study Tour brings a 12-person Lao PDR government delegation to Western Australia from 22-26 June 2026, combining site visits, industry briefings,  investor meetings, and a two-day technical workshop to support Lao PDR's mining governance reform agenda. Delegates travel from Kalgoorlie-Boulder, where they visit one of Australia's largest open-pit gold operations and meet with local government and industry leaders, to Perth, where they attend the Iron Ore and Open Pit Operators Conference to meet with investors and key industry players, and a two-day technical workshop designed to translate Australian experience into priority recommendations for Lao PDR.

This study tour is organized as part of the Laos–Australia Investment Facilitation and Transformation for Economic Resilience (LIFT 4 Laos) programme, implemented by United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) with support from the Government of Australia through the Mekong-Australia Partnership (MAP). LIFT 4 Laos aims to strengthen Lao PDR’s capacity to attract high-quality foreign direct investment (FDI), promote sustainable economic development, increase resilience to external shocks, and enhance regional cooperation.
