The Social Development Division of ESCAP and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) will co-organize a Joint Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on the “Older Persons and Intergenerational Solidarity” which will take place at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok from 10-11 October 2023.

The EGM aims to foster understanding and policy discussion on intergenerational solidarity, with a special focus on challenges and opportunities in Asia and the Pacific. It will address the scope of intergenerational equity, evaluate policy approaches, and assess the impact on human rights of older persons. This meeting is part of ongoing efforts to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and supports UN initiatives focused on creating a society for all ages.
