The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is convening this Expert Group Meeting to take stock of current and emerging trends in population ageing and to identify policy priorities ahead of the Asia-Pacific Fifth Review and Appraisal of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA), to be held from 16 to 18 June 2027. The meeting is being held in accordance with General Assembly resolution 79/147 and ECOSOC resolution 2025/8.
Over two days, government experts, civil society representatives, academics and United Nations entities will discuss health and well-being in old age, older persons and work, long-term care and ageing-in-place, enabling and supportive environments, intergenerational relations and plans for the Fifth Review and Appraisal of MIPAA. The meeting will facilitate the sharing of good practices and provide opportunities for peer learning and networking among participants from across the region.
