The Asia-Pacific region continues to make progress towards more resilient, inclusive and sustainable development, even as it navigates a rapidly evolving global environment. Economic uncertainty, uneven recovery patterns and intensifying climate pressures are reshaping development priorities, highlighting the need for more integrated, adaptive and forward-looking policy responses. At the same time, expanding regional cooperation, stronger South-South engagement and the emergence of new development partners are opening additional pathways to accelerate progress towards the 2030 Agenda.
In this context, ESCAP plays a central role in supporting member States to address complex and interconnected development challenges. Through a combination of policy-oriented research, technical cooperation and capacity development, ESCAP works with governments and partners to translate regional priorities into practical, evidence-based solutions. Its convening power and multidisciplinary expertise enable cross-sectoral approaches that respond to national needs while strengthening regional collaboration.
The Technical Cooperation Highlights 2024–2025 presents a selection of initiatives that illustrate how this approach delivers results on the ground. It is structured around five interlinked areas: sustainable finance, connectivity, technology and data, social inclusion, and climate action. The publication highlights efforts to mobilize investment, strengthen systems and institutions, harness innovation, and address persistent inequalities, while underscoring the role of partnerships in scaling solutions and ensuring inclusive and resilient development gains. Together, these examples demonstrate how targeted technical cooperation can support countries in advancing sustainable development outcomes, while contributing to broader regional efforts to build a more resilient and future-ready Asia and the Pacific.
