This report documents the Workshop on the Management of Women’s Information Centres for South Asian countries, held in Bangkok from 6 to 22 December 1988 under ESCAP’s WINAP programme. It outlines regional efforts to strengthen women’s information systems following the United Nations Decade for Women and the Nairobi Forward-looking Strategies. The workshop focused on enhancing the technical and managerial capacity of personnel working in national women’s information centres, including training in information management, documentation, networking, and new technologies. It presented modules on acquisition, organization, dissemination of information, and the use of statistics and indicators for women’s development planning. The report concludes with detailed recommendations and action plans at national, subregional, regional, and global levels to improve cooperation, standardization, and information exchange systems for advancing women's status.
