The Annual Meeting of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) Working Group on Gender and SDGs will be jointly convened by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
The Annual Meeting of the SPECA Working Group on Gender and SDGs provides participating government stakeholders from pertinent ministries and organizations in SPECA countries a forum for policy discussion, peer learning and the exchange of knowledge and good practice on crucial issues relating to gender equality.
Acknowledging the theme of this year’s SPECA Economic Forum ‘Transforming the SPECA Region into a Connectivity Hub with Global Outreach’, the Annual Meeting of the Working Group hopes to explore the transformative potential of the region from a gender perspective.

The United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) was launched in 1998 to strengthen subregional cooperation in Central Asia and its integration into the world economy. The SPECA Working Group on Gender and the SDGs is a subsidiary body with the governing structure of SPECA.
