On 11 July 2025, ESCAP observed World Population Day by holding a virtual event on “Demographic trends and intergenerational relations in Asia and the Pacific”.

This event featured opening remarks by the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of ESCAP, special remarks by the Managing Editor of APSD Journal, an overview presentation, and a moderated panel discussion with government representatives, experts and civil society representations, including a youth representative.

The event also provided an opportunity to officially launch the latest issue of the Asia-Pacific Sustainable Development Journal (Vol. 32, No. 1, April 2025) which focuses on demographic trends and intergenerational relations.

The meeting was held virtually, using Zoom, and it was open to all registered participants.
