ESCAP-ARTNeT Course on Trade and SDGs

-
Header

Trade integration holds many development opportunities, but its benefit for sustainable development is not automatic. Managing associated risks that come with trade openness is not straightforward. They require at least a conceptual understanding of the linkages between trade and the opportunities and threats it has on sustainable development.

This UN ESCAP-ARTNeT course aims to enhance the general public and policymakers' understanding of the relationship between trade and SDGs. It gives a broad perspective on trade's enabling and disenabling roles in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Course format

This ESCAP course is conducted as a facilitated e-learning course. It consists of 15 pre-recorded modules (approximately 15 min each) and interactive regional sessions. On the first day of the course, there will be a short live session to introduce the course structure,  materials  and familiarize  participants with the tools used in this course on the ESCAP Community platform. After the first live session, participants will undertake  self-learning online modules.  For each module, all participants must watch the video presentations, review supplement materials, take the quizzes, and then participate in the second and third live sessions to ask questions and discuss the materials with the course facilitator. The third live session will also include panel discussions highlighting the application of knowledge on fundamental issues in the Asia-Pacific developing countries.

Participants are requested to note down any feedback on the course for improvement. Upon attending the facilitated live sessions, providing feedback and passing the quizzes with at least 75% scores, participants registered to the facilitated sessions have to take ALL parts A, B1, B2, B3, B4, C1, C2, attend the live sessions to get the UN ESCAP certificate of full completion the “Online course on Trade and SDGs (Mandatory, Intermediate and Advanced Modules)", and complete live session evaluation form.
